Two Events and a Black Wolves Reminder
My official virtual book launch event for SERVANT MAGE takes place the evening before the release date, sponsored by Brookline Booksmith.
I hope you can join the most excellent S. A. Chakraborty (The Daevabad Trilogy) and myself. It’s free, but you do need to register to get entry into the event.

I would love to see any and even all of you there, virtually of course, and answer your questions. I never get enough questions at these events. What’s up with that??? I have to come up with my own topics, and I start feeling like I’m repeating myself!

My next Narrative Worlds ‘cast is this Sunday 16 January, 2022, at 1pm - 2 pm Pacific Time. I’ll be speaking with the ineffably wonderful KAREN LORD, the award winning author of Redemption in Indigo, The Best of All Possible Worlds, The Galaxy Game, and Unravelling. She edited New Worlds, Old Ways: Speculative Tales from the Caribbean.
Karen and I recently both have short stories in The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2021 (editors John Joseph Adams and Veronica Roth), and that led us to our topic:
The Puzzles Inside Worldbuilding: Constructing Narratives At Various Lengths
To attend the live session (and ask questions) you must be a member of the 2021 Nebulas Online Conference Platform. However, the event is recorded and will be posted later on the SFWA YouTube channel for all to watch (free!).
For example, last month’s Narrative Worlds featured ANN LECKIE and myself discussing "Using Character Interactions To Seamlessly Build Worlds and Narratives Without Infodump” (we talked about a lot of other stuff too).
It is now up for your viewing pleasure on YouTube.

A reminder that, as I discussed in the January 3, 2022 newsletter, I’ll be posting what I have written of Dead Empire (Black Wolves 2) as a Work in Progress behind the tier-wall on my Patreon. This draft history starts next week with chapter one. Bittersweet in that I am grateful to have readers to share this with, and frustrated by the obstacles still remaining and my lack of any currently clear road to a resolution.

As always, my most heartfelt thanks to all of you who follow this newsletter. I could not do this without you.
