It's Raining Audiobooks
and two appearances, and other news
This is your time, audiobook lovers! THREE (3) audiobooks launched in September ON THE SAME DAY (no, I don’t know why on the same day).
Crown of Stars Volume 7 with Shiromi Arserio (she has been magnificent throughout the entire series). Here is the link to the entire set of seven in audio format. This is really cool since for a long time I thought it could never possibly happen, and I remain so incredibly grateful for Shiromi’s rich and compassionate narration.
An Earthly Crown (Jaran 2) with Cindy Kay. The four Jaran novels are coming out fast!
Spirit Gate (Crossroads 1) with Zehra Jane Naqvi. Zehra and I had some intense correspondence and I sent her a lot of background material because she wanted to get the aesthetic just right. Excited to see what she’ll do with the entire trilogy.
His Conquering Sword is scheduled for October. Shadow Gate for November.
But wait, there’s more!
In person!
If you are on Oahu on Saturday October 28, Emma Candon (The Archive Undying & Star Wars: Ronin) and I are doing a sci-fi conversation at indie bookstore Da Shop, in Kaimuki, from 2 pm - 4 pm. We’d love to see you!
Online!
Season 4 of Narrative Worlds starts up this month, with my guest Shannon Chakraborty: Sunday October 15 at 1 pm PT. We talk Beyond Background Filler: History and Religion As Foundational Structures in Worldbuilding.
Narrative Worlds is a monthly conversation between me and another writer or publishing professional about some element of craft or career. Imagine us sitting in the bar at a convention, shooting the breeze. The live conversation is sponsored by SFWA, and is platformed on the Nebula Conference 2023 online platform, which means that to attend the live event (and ask questions!) you need to have a Nebula Conference 2023 membership. THEN, a week or two after the event, the recording will be put up on SFWA’s YouTube channel, available to be viewed by all (free). So if you can attend the live event, please do! If you can’t, I hope you will watch the recording later, at your leisure. There are three previous seasons available with excellent folks for your viewing pleasure.
Note: John Scalzi will be my November 19 guest. We’ll talk about the changing face of social media for authors.
Still no official announcements, but soon! I hope! I hate waiting too!
Meanwhile I continue work on Things. So Many Things.
Do let me know if you have any questions.
In September I went on a 24 day trip to Central Asia that was pretty great and also quite interesting, and also often surprising (when set against my inevitable expectations). More on that later. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen many photos from the trip. For now, have a photo of Issyk Kul (Kyrgyzstan) at sunset.
Finn was well cared for by my spawn and spawn adjacent, who kindly house/dog sat for almost an entire month so I could go on the trip.
As always, I could not do this without you. Thank you.
