I Make Up Worlds Now on a New Platform
If you have received this newsletter, then your newsletter subscription has ported seamlessly over from Substack to my new platform. As I have mentioned previously, I've been contemplating for some time now leaving Substack as a platform because I prefer not to host my newsletter with a business that both monetizes and amplifies transphobic and Nazi speech. It's taken me quite a while to manage the transition, but I have now done it. I hope.
This newsletter is being sent from Buttondown.
If you haven't received this newsletter, then you're not reading this anyway, so that's a different issue.
Buttondown doesn't yet have a comments section, although I hope that will come in 2024. For the time being, if any of you are on Bluesky, and have a moment, could you ping me to let me know you received this at @kateelliottsff.bsky.social (I still have Bluesky invites, so email me if you want one) OR (if need be) on Twitter at @KateElliottSFF OR email me at ke@imakeupworlds.com
If you prefer not to ping me, that is also fine. I'm just making sure this new platform works before I send out newsletters with actual publishing information or a thoughtful essay, because there is news (and maybe an essay or two) forthcoming, some potentially interesting things churning beneath the surface of our murky waters.
My newsletter archives remain available, now on Buttondown.
I'm not deleting my Substack newsletter yet, and I may (or may not) send one last newsletter from there before I put it on "hold" (or eventually delete it once I feel secure here).

I'll repeat this again in my next newsletter, but in case you wanted some publishing news, TRAITORS' GATE, the third and final volume of the Crossroads Trilogy, is now out on audio, narrated by the excellent Zehra Jane Naqvi. I think she has done this complex story justice with her nuanced voice work.
To close, my first Buttondown Finn photo, with bonus square-chonk friend:
As always, thank you for reading. I couldn't do this without you.
