As always, this newsletter is free, and it focuses on my books and events.
This September I spent two weeks in Denmark, hanging out with extended family, eating a lot of really great food, and enjoying how relaxing it is to be in a sane, chill, mature country, even for a mere 14 days.
Denmark is a water-facing country with extensive shoreline and many islands and a long history of being tied to the sea.
Yes, smørrebrød—open-face sandwiches—are one of the great cuisine inventions, because they allow for endless variations. Also, Danish rye-bread (the kind most commonly used for this meal) has a smaller loaf that is thinly-sliced and less dense than most other kinds of rye-bread, so perfect for multiple tiny little sandwiches with herring, meats, cheeses, potatoes, salads, beets, whatever you want to combine.
Also, the most intense rainbow I have ever seen, and that’s saying something because Hawaii is the Rainbow State because we get so many rainbows here.

As book two of The Witch Roads duology, it finishes up Elen’s story. You can pre-order if you so wish (and yes, pre-orders help authors).

If you can’t and you want a signed copy of The Nameless Land, and/or The Witch Roads, and/or one of Ann’s or my other novels, email Powells and order via them. Make sure to request a personalization if that’s something you want, although I am also happy just to sign with a signature and nothing else. And do ask about my other books if that is something you’re interested in getting signed, because Powells needs to know in order to make sure there are copies of backlist for me to sign as well as The Witch Roads duology. As well, ordering via an indie bookstore like Powells is so good for the health and longevity of the indie bookstore ecosystem.

Because the holidays are coming up, I want to offer you all the chance to buy copies from me at a cut rate price, signed (with a signature only, or personalized to the person of your choice). You would also pay mailing costs, TBD: either media mail (cheaper but slower) or Priority (about 3x costlier but much faster). If mailed in October all the books should reach you by the holidarys.

While I was in Denmark, Finn’s dog-sitters brought their little diva, Potato, to hang out as well. I would not say the two dogs loved each other but they did tolerate each other, so I call that a win.
